Another packed edition of West One's free magazine Horizon, is available for download here.
In a year that is set to see bridging smash through the £2bn mark by the end of December, the latest research from the West One Bridging Index shows gross short term lending is continuing to outpace traditional mortgage loans by some 50 times over, which is a staggering statistic.
The Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) estimated just a 1.4% annual expansion in gross mortgage lending between 2011 and 2012, a 61% decline from the levels achieved in 2007.
Compare this with the stellar performance of gross bridging lending, which rose 72% over the same period and you begin to see just how important short term lending has become within the property sector.
The Index once again makes fascinating reading, however there is a lot more for you in this edition of Horizon.
Millie Dyson examines the vital role the West One case manager plays in getting loans over the finishing line. A role that has changed considerably as loans have become more complex.
We take a closer look at why The Treasury and the Bank of England may have perhaps shot themselves in the foot with The Funding For Lending Scheme and Ben Hubbard is back with another insightful article on the challenges self builders face in using less traditional methods of construction.
Andy Mossack takes a look at the extraordinary social revolution taking place with peer-to-peer lending, whilst PR guru James Staunton discusses how PR can be highly influential in the court of public opinion.
